Representatives on the Council have an opportunity to discuss pastoral issues with the Bishop and other Council members, and to make recommendations to the Bishop.

Applicants need to be practicing, involved Catholics who have the ability to listen, who can follow through on commitments, and who are willing to attend general meetings of the Council and convene Cluster meetings.

General meetings are held at St. Charles Borromeo Pastoral Center three times a year (the second Saturday of October, February and June).  Diocesan Pastoral Council representatives meet with parish council presidents or other parish representatives once between each general meeting to give parishes an opportunity to communicate their concerns, etc. to the Council.  Commissions (Administration, Education, Service, and Worship) meet only as necessary.   Persons serve a three-year term.

An application form for Council membership may be obtained from the pastor or by going to the diocesan website or by contacting the Chancery.  Please return the completed form to the Chancery by mail (425 Summit Street, Joliet 60435) by fax (815-722-6602) or by e-mail (jdavies@dioceseofjoliet.org) no later than April 15, 2008.  Call Sr. Judith Davies (815-722-6606) for more information.
