Sign up to Attend Biblical Institute of the Diocese of Joliet Classes at Assumption Parish in Coal City

The Biblical Institute of the Diocese of Joliet, a program of the Religious Education Office, serves everyone who wants an in-depth study of the Bible and prayerful reflection on Scripture within a Catholic Faith community.

The Biblical Institute of the Diocese would like to begin a yearlong Catholic Bible Study in the southern part of the Diocese at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Coal City.  Any adult can join! No specific academic or Bible study background is needed. The hope is to begin a Bible class at the parish in mid-September, Tuesday evenings from 7-9 PM.

Come and learn Scripture in an engaging manner, with a graduate-level instructor certified by the Diocese to teach Catholics how to read and interpret the Bible. Each instructor has extensive experience teaching Scripture and other faith-related subjects to Catholic adults.  Most importantly, the instructors share a passion for helping Catholics experience the power of God’s Word. They practice a Bible-related ministry in the service of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Joliet.  The goal of their ministry is to deepen the Faith and practice of all who participate in the Biblical Institute.

What some of the Students say…

  • “The lectures keep us all spellbound. [Our instructors] teach the class in such a way that understanding dawns.”  Kitty V., New Lenox, Il.
  • “This is the best Faith formation experience I have ever had.”  Lynne M., Glen Ellyn, Il.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition is $500 a year, which pays for our instructors and for the Biblical Institutes administration.  We accept tuition in two payments, by September 10 and December 1.  Books costs vary by year of the program typically ranging from $50-$100 a year.  Ordinarily half  the tuition is due in September and the other half is due in December. Any student who wishes to work out a payment plan with the diocese may do so by calling Elizabeth Casey in the Religious Education Office at 815-221-6147. If you need a different payment schedule, we’ll be happy to arrange it.  Partial tuition benefits are available.

This is a terrific opportunity for our parishioners and others to learn the Bible.  Again, we must enroll 30 students to ensure that the site is viable for the program. Any students who wish to register ahead of time along with a deposit are strongly encouraged to do so. For more information call us at 815-221-6147, or email or call Father Noesen at the Parish Office.
