Immaculate Conception Parish, Elmhurst, to Offer Presentation on Human Trafficking on May 10

If you are a mother, grandmother, aunt or friend of minor children, you will not want to miss this evening at Immaculate Conception Parish in Elmhurst on May 10 at 7 p.m. Come and learn about the epidemic of human trafficking that most of us know little about.  WAR International provides safe houses for at-risk women throughout the world (including the United States).

The International Labor Organization estimates that there are 20.9 million victims of human trafficking globally, with hundreds of thousands in the United States. Human trafficking victims have been identified in cities, suburbs, and rural areas in all 50 states, and in Washington, D.C. Did you know that 15,500 children are trafficked into the United States each year? Did you know that the Super Bowl is the most highly trafficked event in the country?  Did you know that children as young as four years old, as well as teens, are often kidnapped, moved to another country and trafficked?

Following a presentation on human trafficking, we will be able to shop the WAR Boutique, featuring jewelry, scarves, stationary, home décor and much more, all created by women around the world rescued from human trafficking. Please save the date and join us for an informative and eye-opening evening.  RSVP to Pam Stefik at 630.530.3497.  Immaculate Conception is located at 134 Arthur Street in Elmhurst.
