Going Forward

How do the lessons from the Convocation translate to concrete action here in the Diocese of Joliet?

The dialogue continues. Our delegation has continued to reflect upon the lessons of the Convocation of Catholic Leaders.

  • July-September, 2017
    Convocation delegates gather to discuss their reflections from the Convocation.  How can we employ the energy, the wisdom, and the ideas from Convocation of Catholic Leaders back to the Diocese of Joliet?

  • September 16, 2017
    Selected delegates meet with Bishop's Diocesan Pastoral Council. DPC members will continue the dialogue at their deanery meetings and share feedback on proposed strategies for evangelization.

  • September 26, 2017
    Selected delegates will meet with diocesan Agency Directors. The professional staff at the Diocese of Joliet will dialogue with delegates on how the diocesan offices might incorporate suggested initiatives into the work of the Diocesan Curia.

  • September 30, 2017
    Delegates and others will participate in the tri-annual Diocesan Assembly to share the lessons of the Convocation of Catholic Leaders. Participants from around the Diocese will hear from those who attended and share that information with their parishes.

  • December 6, 2017
    Selected delegates will meet with Bishop Conlon's Presbyteral Council.  This council of priests from around the Diocese of Joliet will discuss the lessons and recommendations of the delegates, and how the presbyterate can respond to the call of the Convocation.

  • January-February, 2018
    Selected delegates will be meeting with priests from around the Diocese of Joliet to discuss some of the strategies brought on by the post-Convocation dialogue, and to take suggestions for strategies that will work locally in our eight diocesan deaneries.

  • March-April, 2018
    The Convocation delegates will review the comments from the priests, and make their final recommendations for Bishop Conlon.

  • March-September, 2018
    DPC members and parish leaders from around the Diocese of Joliet will discuss their local evangelization strategies, and continue to generate ideas and suggestions for bringing people to the Church.  

  • May 2, 2018
    The priests of the Diocese of Joliet, having met with Convocation delegates, at Presbyteral Council will share their recommendations to Bishop Conlon for concrete evangelization strategies at parishes and diocesan-wide.
