About the Bishop
History of Our Bishops

Bishop R. Daniel Conlon has been a bishop for 16 years. During that time, he has never written a pastoral letter. Until now.

In “Go,” He Said, Bishop Conlon writes about an important topic facing the Catholicism today: how does the Catholic faith community within the seven counties of the Diocese of Joliet grow in the months and years ahead when statistics are showing that many are not attending Mass, and many are not celebrating the sacraments?

In a world that seems less interested in God, and in a society wounded by many divisions, in what ways can the Catholic Church reach people with the Good News of Jesus Christ?

In other words, how can we carry out, with the help of the Holy Spirit, Christ’s Great Commission: 'Go and Make Disciples'?

Read on, in English or in Spanish, to find out Bishop Conlon’s thoughts on this important matter.

In the coming weeks and months, diocesan, deanery and parish leaders will discuss ways to incorporate the direction of "Go," He Said. After reading the pastoral letter, individuals and small groups are encouraged to personally reflect on its implications.
