Diocesan Sponsored International Immersion Trips 

for College Students

The University Mission has been in existence since 1995. College students who attend school or live in the Diocese of Joliet are invited to join with other peers in these international service experiences.  Students from Benedictine University, Joliet Junior College, Lewis University, Midwestern University, North Central College and University of St. Francis have participated.

Cost:   $2,200

Students will work in a variety of settings- day care centers, orphanages, homes for delinquent or abandon children, clinics and hospitals.  Spanish is not required.

Applications and the first deposit of $150 will be due late in the Fall term.

January 1-11, 2009  (dates for January 2009 to be announced)

Cost: $2,200

Students will primarily spend time working to build a home in Bacolod.  Other efforts will include ministering to street children, working with boys at risk, working with business possibilities for the poor, ministering to abused girls.  Housing accommodations will be provided at the campus of the University of St. LaSalle (operated by the DeLaSalle Christian Brothers).

Completed applications, signed doctor’s form, passport copy and a deposit of $500, is due September 15th.  An additional $500 is due on the first of each month (October, November and December) after you have been interviewed and accepted by your school.  You will need to have all paperwork and your deposit in to be accepted by the diocese.

We will have one informational night on Sunday, September 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Lewis University's Ministry Center.  There will also be one Formation Day on Saturday, November 10th from 10 to 3 p.m. at the St. Charles Borromeo Pastoral Center in Romeoville.

A commissioning Mass will be held sometime in December.

There will be no group find raising efforts, but we will be bale to help with an opportunity to speak at some of the parishes to assist with your trip.
