Who We Are

Recently, the National Office of the Council of Catholic Women asked our Diocesan CCW President, "What does a CCW President need to know?"  Her answer was published in the March issue of the NCCW's online newsletter CONNECT; however, Diane's insights are so valuable, we think it should be titled: "What do you wish to know about CCW?"  Check out this link, and see if you don't agree.

We are women of all ages and stages of life throughout the diocese who are working to "know God, love Him aand serve Him".  Most of us work in local parish councils.  The link below lists the Parish Councils of Catholic Women in our diocese.  If you would like information about a particular parish CCW, please e-mail the JDCCW volunteer at jdccwvolunteer@dioceseofjoliet.org or call our office at 815-221-6248, and she will forward your message to a contact in that parish who will resond to your message.

Parish Councils of Catholic Women in the Diocese of Joliet

We also work through other rings of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW), such as the Joliet Diocesan CCW (with sub-divisions called deaneries) and the National Council of Catholic Women.  Currently, we have six CCW Deaneries; the links list the board members of that deanery, and the Parish CCWs in each.  Deaneries are the educational, communication and representative link to the Diocesan and National CCWs, and are organized to cover all seven counties of the Joliet diocese:

  Wider rings of CCW

Parish CCWs are the principal working circle of CCW, but of course CCW extends far beyond the parish.  Parish and Deanery CCW are affiliates of and represented in these 'wider rings':

The Joliet Diocesan Council of Catholic Women; their website is http://dioceseofjoliet.org

Past Presidents of the Joliet Diocesan Council of Catholic Women

The Province of Chicago, so named because it encompasses all the diocese in the state of Illinois, including its archdiocese, Chicago, from which it takes its name.  Current Director of the Province of Chicago is Rose Martinet, who can be reached at rosemartinet11@gmail.com .  The board of the Province consists of the Director,  the Presidents and Spiritual Moderators of the six dioceses of Illinois: the Archdiocese of Chicago, and the dioceses of Joliet, Rockford, Peoria, Springfield and Belleville, as well as past Province Directors and NCCW Presidents.  The Province Director represents us on and to:

The National Council of Catholic Women.  Their website is http://www.nccw.org  This national federation also encourages Individual Memberships, which bring the NCCW right to your mailbox and e-mail Inbox.  In turn the NCCW represents on and to:

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB.org)
Catholic Relief Services, Cross International, and many other national  organizations and groups
The United Nations (UN.org/eng/)
The World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations (WUCWO.org), which in turn is a lay organization  recognized by the Vatican (Vatican.va); you may need to use the language box at the upper right to switch to English.
