WORKSHOP FOR JOLIET PRIESTS ON COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS AND DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS IN PARISH MINISTRY
On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, at the Blanchette Catholic Center, Kerry and John Keyser of Common Sense Leadership, www.commonsenseleadership.com, will facilitate a discussion on the elements and practices of healthy conversations to better connect, engage and more confidently address difficult conversations with parish staff, lay ministers and parishioners. John's work has been mainly with CEOs and senior executives. Kerry is a clinical psychologist. Together, Kerry and John now help leaders earn quality relationships with their people and improve teamwork and organizational culture. CHRISM DAY AFTERNOON OF REFLECTION
Fr. Jack Welch, OCarm, will be the presenter for our afternoon of reflection on Monday, March 26, beginning at 2 p.m.

 

PRIEST RETREATS
On this “off year” for our All-Priest retreat, priests have asked about group retreat opportunities in our area.

The Cardinal Stritch Retreat House offers several retreats for priests over the coming year, including for those in 12-Step programs, those preparing to retire and those changing assignments.  For more information, see their website (www.cardinalstritchretreat.org).  St. Meinrad (www.saintmeinrad.org) will offer a retreat for priests directed by Fr. Eugene Hensell, OSB, April 30-May 4, 2018, on Key Themes in the Gospel of Mark: Challenges for Preaching and Practice.

 

2018 ALL - PRESBYTERATE RETREAT
The next all-presbyterate retreat at Mundelein Conference Center is scheduled for October 22-26, 2018.

 

2019 PRIEST CONVOCATION
Please mark your calendar for the 2019 Convocation:  October 7 – 10, 2019.

 

SABBATICALS
According to diocesan policy, all diocesan priests ordained at least 15 years (with 7 years of service in the diocese) are eligible for a sabbatical.  Priests are also eligible for another sabbatical 10 years after the first.  Applications should be submitted 6 months prior to the date the sabbatical would begin.  For more information and for application materials, please contact Nora at noral@dioceseofjoliet.org or 815-221-6184.

 

ONGOING STUDIES
Any diocesan priest who is considering doing work toward an advanced degree (in whatever area of study) is asked to contact Fr. David at the Office of Ongoing Formation priestsongoingformation@dioceseofjoliet.org prior to beginning the program.

CONFESSIONS AT ST. PROCOPIUS ABBEY
The monks at St. Procopius Abbey continue to offer the sacrament of reconciliation for priests Monday - Friday, from 12:45 PM - 1:45 PM in the monastery reconciliation chapel.  If a priest is not in the chapel, please check with the receptionist.  We are most grateful to Abbot Austin and the monks for offering this service for priests.
