HISTORY & ENROLLMENT
Aquinas Catholic Academy was created in 2005 from a merger of St. Martin of Tours School and Sts. Patrick & Teresa School and is supported through the efforts of its three parishes, St. Martin of Tours, St. Patrick and St. Teresa. The school was established to provide quality education grounded in religious values for our parishes and for the people of the Kankakee area who seek the benefits of Catholic education.
The current enrollment is 214 students in a program that extends from a three year old preschool to grade eight.
Aquinas Catholic Academy offers an early childhood program which includes full day and half day as well as two or three day options for the three and four year old preschool students. The kindergarten program is open for half day and full day options.
The school offers an extended care, or latch key, program for students beginning at 6:30 AM and ending at 5:30 PM. A hot lunch program is also available.
The curriculum of Aquinas Catholic Academy includes religious education and formation, academic instruction in the core subject areas of language arts development, math, science, social studies, art and music. There is an extensive computer education program featuring
a computer lab with a computer for each child, as well as SmartBoards integrated to the classrooms. The computer education curriculum for the upper grade students is considered
a major subjuect area. Instruction in the Spanish language is also included for students in kindergarten through grade eight.
Extracurricular programs offered include an "all play" interscholastic sport program, band, liturgical choir, Son Rise Club, Rosary Club, speech contest, and book club.
For more information about our school and its program offerings, please call the main office at 815.932.8124.
