If you receive such a phone call, it is a scam and you should not respond. If you may have already responded to such a request, we suggest that you contact your credit card company immediately. The "Spreading Hope Evangelization Drive," initiated to raise financial support for Christ is our Hope Magazine, does not include solicitation by phone! Thank you, and we are very sorry for any difficulty this may have caused you. We have reported this scam to the police. About Us
Christ is our Hope is a monthly magazine that is mailed to every registered Catholic parishioner household in the diocese. It appears 10 months out of the year with January/February and July/August being the issues that are combined. It is published with the help of Faith Catholic, based in Lansing, MI. Here is a brief history of Faith Catholic:
History
In 2000, Faith Catholic started out as a magazine for the Catholic Diocese of Lansing, Michigan. In 2003, Faith Catholic began publishing diocesan magazines for Catholic dioceses and organizations. Bishop Carl F. Mengeling is the founding publisher and Father Charles Irvin is the founding editor.
Why was Faith Catholic created?
To answer Pope John Paul II’s call for a new evangelization. In the1980s, 50% of registered Catholics attended weekly Mass Now, 25% of registered Catholics attend weekly Mass.
The Faith Catholic format was created to:
1) Remind people why they are Catholic
2) Strengthen the reader’s connection to the Catholic Church or organization
