PEACE DAY 2008 - “The Challenge of Peace: How Peace is Challenged and How Peace Challenges Us Today”
Our annual Joliet Diocesan Peace Day will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 and will feature John Carr as the keynote speaker. Mr. Carr served nearly two decades as the Secretary of the Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development for the USCCB. He speaks and writes frequently on Catholic social teaching and the moral dimension of public issues. In addition there will be 4 workshops: “Global Climate Change and How It Can Lead to Conflict”, Journey to Justice on the The Jericho Road: An Introduction to the Way of Peace”, and “Conflict, Peace and Christian Vocation” and “Hiroshima: The Story of An Atom Bomb Survivor –The Cries for Nuclear Disarmament Still Rises Like a Mushroom Cloud to the Heavens.” What an exciting program! One you would not want to miss.
Registration and exhibits begin at 8:00 a.m. and the Welcoming and Opening Prayer at 8:45 a.m. Dismissal is at 2:00 p.m. Suggested Donation is $15 without luncheon and $25 with the luncheon. Seniors and students receive a $5 discount.
