MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT--Making Happiness A Habit: Happiness in marriage comes, not so much from the “once in a lifetime” events, wonderful as they are, but by the things we do over and over again. What are these “habits of the heart” that lead to joy and fulfillment? They are firmly grounded in our Catholic faith, but social science research has also suggested their importance for human happiness.
On Tuesday, October 19 at St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Hinsdale, Dr. Jim Healy will present Making Happiness a Habit, a follow up to last year’s “How to Be Married and Stay Engaged” presentation. The event will run from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30p.m. All married or engaged couples are invited, as well as anybody with an interest in learning more about marriage. MARRIAGE AND THE EUCHARIST: For Catholics, there is an inseparable and vital connection between the sacrament of marriage and the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. During this diocesan year of the Eucharist, we will explore and celebrate that vital connection. A deeper connection to the Eucharist should result in a deeper connection with our spouse, and the deeper we commit to our spouse, the more obvious is our need for the Eucharist.
All married couples are invited to a special morning on Saturday, October 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the St. Charles Pastoral Center in Romeoville. Come celebrate these tremendous gifts in our lives, and see how they mutually reinforce each other. The event will culminate with a celebration of the Eucharist for married couples. There is no charge, but couples should come prepared to make a small donation to the diocesan mission program.
Please pre-register for this event by calling us at the Center at 815-838-5334. Parishes or individual couples with questions about the event should call Dr. Jim Healy at the same number. |

However, research findings also indicate that with proper intervention, families adjust to the loss and recover well. The RAINBOWS® program continues to offer healing to families experiencing these losses.
RAINBOWS® is a program which provides support for children and adolescents who are grieving a loss from a life altering crisis such as death or divorce. RAINBOWS® enables those grieving to share their feelings in an accepting, supportive, confidential small group environment facilitated by trained, caring and compassionate adults. Program sites may send their volunteers to the following training sessions at the St. Charles Pastoral Center in Romeoville.
Pre-registration is required. New facilitator training is $55.00, and includes lunch. Please call 815-838-5334 for new site start-up, for training information, or to register. |
