Job Description

 

Position Summary

To coordinate the Christian Service outreach of the parish working with clergy, staff and volunteers.

Job Description

  • The coordinator will coordinate, communicate and organize parishioners to address the needs of the poor, sick and the suffering in our local community working with parishioner volunteers to accomplish this.
  • Act as staff contact for volunteers from the parish on various outreach committees and organizations, e.g., Saint Vincent DePaul, Transitional Housing Program (Bridge Communities), referrals to appropriate church, community and government organizations, Poor at the door, Food Pantry, Walk-in-Ministry, etc.  
  • Assist the occasional drop-in client.
  • Communicate with and schedule volunteers for communion visits to homebound and hospital ministry.

Professional and Personal Representation

  • Practicing Catholic who understands and supports the teachings and dogma of the Roman Catholic Church and who acts an example and serves as role model in their personal life.
  • Has a sense of God’s call to this ministry and carries out the ministry in humble service to the parish.
  • Communicates in a professional, positive and supportive manner at all levels.
  • Displays a true Christian example of patience, compassion and understanding.
  • Has skills in administrative work and interaction with others.
  • Proficiency in relating to and working cooperatively with parish members.
  • Strength in administrative and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous personal growth in spirituality and education.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently including developing and maintaining effective record keeping systems.
  • Ability to compose correspondence.
  • Ability to honor and maintain absolute confidentiality both within and outside of the office in regard to any and all parish business.
  • Ability to relate to the diverse universe of the parish in a positive and professional manner.

Position Requirement

  • This position is a part-time, non-benefited position, consisting in a weekly commitment between 25-29 hours.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to empower and motivate parishioners to volunteer.
  • Ability to organize, communicate, listen and self-motivate.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and the use of email and basic computer proficiency.
