Divine Savior Church Position Description

Position Title: Facility Coordinator    Position Type: Part Time, 25 hours/week

Job Summary: Under direction of the Business Manager, the Facility Coordinator is responsible to maintain all parish buildings, grounds, and related equipment to ensure the effective functioning of church facilities and to provide an efficient, safe working environment for staff. This position assists the Pastor in setting a welcoming, joyful, giving, and compassionate tone for the parish.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develop and perform a preventive maintenance schedule. Maintains operation of building equipment. Perform mid-level repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of the equipment and systems. Hire handy helpers and contract tradespeople for special needs.
  • Research sources for parts and supplies. Identify and maintain quality sources for supplies, services, and equipment. Monitor inventory; order as needed
  • Monitor the work of outside contractors when installing, repairing, or investigating equipment within the facility.
  • Monitor use of utilities; propose and implement controls.
  • Review premises conditions periodically or as requested. Work with Building & Grounds Committee to identify, prioritize, and implement capital improvement projects.
  • Ensure that facilities meet standards and safety requirements of OSHA and ADA as well as local ordinances and routine village inspections.


  • Supervise and evaluate performance of cleaning crews.
  • Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule for all parish buildings.
  • Perform or assist with complex cleaning as needed.
  • Shovel and/or salt as needed to keep all entries and walks serving the church, pastoral center, and rectory free of ice and snow.

Facility Support

  • Protect property and equipment from loss, damage, vandalism, or theft. Work with Business Manager to file reports with local authorities or insurance carriers as necessary.
  • Set-up and reconfigure furniture/equipment for scheduled events as required.
  • Control administrative record keeping related to parish facilities.
  • Receive deliveries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience using power/hand tools required.
  • Hands-on worker who can perform required duties with minimal supervision of the Business Manager.
  • English language skills of reading and speaking required. Knowledge of a second language desirable. Able to communicate with internal customers and external contractors, including phone and email communications. Provide efficient, timely, and reliable service to parishioners and staff.
  • Able to comprehend and interpret instructions and to ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Able to solve problems in normal situations. Analytical and quantitative skills required.
  • Able to write short correspondence such as notes, text, and email as well as requested reports.
  • Able to walk on irregular outdoor surfaces, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Able to be “on call” after hours for emergencies as required. Must be reachable by phone.
  • Valid driver’s license and insured personal vehicle required.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred, 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial building and equipment maintenance.
  • Preferred, a practicing Catholic committed to the vision and mission of Divine Savior parish.
