Season of Creation Schedule 2020

Diocese of Joliet

On September 1st, 2020, the International Day of Prayer for Creation - October 4th, 2020, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, we will celebrate the Season of Creation. The Season of Creation is an annual Christian observance of caring for creation. It is a time to celebrate and renew our commitment to the Creator and the stewardship of His creation. This year’s Season of Creation has a particular significance because our Holy Father has named this year Laudato Si’ Year, as we continue to celebrate the five-year anniversary of his encyclical Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home. Check out what we have going on for the Season of Creation 2020:

September 1: Season of Creation prayer service with Bishop Pates at Lewis University, 6:00 P.M. Due to COVID-19 attendance is limited, please register at kjacobs@dioceseofjoliet.org. A recording of this event can be found here.

September 1: Season of Creation Global Virtual Online Prayer Service, 9:00 AM (CT) with the Global Catholic Climate Movement. Register here.

September 7: The start of the Laudato Si’ and Integral Ecology course. More information and registration here.

September 9: Virtual Clean Energy Jobs Act Town Hall at 6:00 P.M. Join us for a conversation with Sen. Michael Hastings (District 19), chairman of the Senate Energy & Public Utilities Committee. More information and registration here.

September 13-17: We are happy to be co-sponsors of this year’s Green Team Summit with Faith in Place. Register for all or some of these virtual sessions. More information and registration here.

September 17: Feast of St. Hildegard of Bingen! A reflection will be posted on our blog.

September 21-25: this week we will post a series of videos, in Spanish, about different environmental issues in the region. Visit our facebook page to see these videos @LaudatoSiJoliet or the diocesan website.
