Advocacy
We engage in non-partisan advocacy for local, state, and federal policy. We advocate through: testifying at town halls and hearings, legislative visits, letter writing, letters to the editor, and rallying and marching. If you are interested in getting involved or learning more contact Kayla S. Jacobs, Director of Programs for Laudato Si’ Ministries, at: kjacobs@dioceseofjoliet.org.
Current Policy:
Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (EICDA), legislation that seeks to reduce national carbon pollution emissions by over 90% by 2050 by pricing carbon at $15 per metric ton and increasing $10 every year. Take action here!
Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA), legislation that would transition Illinois’ power sector away from fossil fuels by 2030, support workers and communities impacted by the decline of coal, and significantly expand clean energy generation and clean energy jobs in Illinois. Join us for a virtual town hall on CEJA on September 9th, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. More information here.
