Pastoral Associates

A VISION OF MINISTRY

The pastoral associate is professionally qualified as a minister, and is responsible for the daily care of the faithful.  As an integral member of the parish staff, he or she shares in the responsibility of the needs assessment, decision-making, planning, and the implementation of parish ministries and operations.  Like the pastor and associate pastor, the pastoral associate is more of a generalist than a specialist.

Rooted and centered in the energy and power of Jesus' call to discipleship, the pastoral associate is committed to service to the Church.  He or she promotes Gospel values and growth in holiness, values collaboration and mutuality in mission and ministry, and recognizes the need for professional preparation and ongoing formation.

Pastors: If you are thinking of hiring a Pastoral Associate, please contact the Office of Ministry Formation at 815-834-4001 to obtain the current Pastoral Associate Packet.
