CURRENT VACANCIES ON THE COUNCIL
MEMBERS SOUGHT FOR JOLIET DIOCESAN PASTORAL COUNCIL
Persons from parishes in various clusters of the Diocese are invited to apply for membership on the Diocesan Pastoral Council to represent:
Male representatives are being sought to represent the parishes in Cluster 9 (Braidwood, Channahon, Coal City, Minooka, Morris, South Wilmington, Wilmington, Wilton Center), Cluster 10 (Crest Hill, Joliet, Rockdale) and Cluster 4 (Lisle, Naperville, Woodridge) on the Joliet Diocesan Pastoral Council. Representatives on the Council have an opportunity to engage in pastoral planning for the Diocese; to discuss issues with the Bishop and other Council members, and to make recommendations to the Bishop. Persons serve a three-year term.
Applicants need to be practicing, involved Catholics who have the ability to listen, who can follow through on commitments, and who are willing to attend general meetings of the Council and convene meetings of parishes in their cluster between the general meetings.
General meetings are held at St. Charles Borromeo Pastoral Center three times a year (the second Saturday of October, February and June). Diocesan Pastoral Council representatives meet with parish council presidents or others once (for a total of three meetings) between each general meeting to give parishes an opportunity to communicate their concerns, etc. to the Diocesan Pastoral Council.
The Diocesan Pastoral Council, an advisory group to the Bishop, is composed of laity (including one man and one woman from each Cluster), clergy and religious. Members receive reports from the Bishop and others. They discuss and reflect on issues with the Bishop and with Council members. Persons serve a three-year term.
General meetings of the Diocesan Pastoral Council are held at St. Charles Borromeo Pastoral Center three times a year (the second Saturday of October, February and June). Council representatives meet with parish council presidents (or other representatives) once between each general meeting. This is an opportunity for parishioners to communicate their concerns, etc. to the Bishop and to the Diocesan Pastoral Council.
