The task of passing on the faith to children belongs undeniably to their parents.
In fact, no matter how hard we try at the parish to substitute ourselves for them,
if the parents aren’t involved, the child’s faith will always be lukewarm.
Watch this video from the June 9, 2010 "GREAT EXPECTATIONS" workshop
to learn how you can coach parents to form their own children -
then download the parish resource kit below.
In this workshop, Leisa Anslinger helped Diocese of Joliet leaders
learn how to engage parents by coaching them to form their own children. This process can be implemented in various ways, including Sacrament Prep, with a textbook series, or even for Confirmation Preparation.
If you missed the workshop, watch it to learn more.
If you were there, here is your chance to share it with others in your parish.
"It was a real joy to be with so many wonderful people in the Diocese of Joliet for Great Expectations. I know that our conversations during this day built on many years of development in catechetical leadership in Joliet, and I hope our time together encouraged participants to coach their parents to form their own children in our faith. I deeply appreciate the leadership of Tom Quinlan and Joyce Donahue, and am grateful to them for the opportunity to share Great Expectations with you."
