St. Charles Pastoral Center

10 a.m. - Noon

REGISTRATION FORM

"Catechesis is intrinsically bound to every liturgical and sacramental action"(GDC, no. 30.)

PART 1:

"Liturgical Cathchesis" The first session of this workshop will focus on the ways in which liturgy "teaches." Liturgical prayer proclaims and gives deeper meaning to the ritual actions we use and is foundational for an understanding and practice of our faith.

PART 2:

“Praying with the Rite of Penance.” Sister Kate believes that the richness of the Rite of Penance has often been overlooked. This session will focus on the theology of the Rite and offer some practical suggestions for catechesis on the sacrament.

Come learn how to catechize children, youth and adults about the Rite. (A better understanding of the Rite of Penance is one of Bishop Sartain’s goals for the upcoming Diocese of Joliet 2010 Year of the Eucharist.)

Sr. Kate a key figure in catechetical renewal in the US after Vatican II, is currently adjunct professor of theology at Dominican University, River Forest. She has published widely in catechetical and liturgical journals and written a number of texts and resources for catechesis.
