The Diocese of Joliet's Catechist Certification Program assists catechists to balance their formation. In Service to the Master describes the process:
- Foundational Certification is granted after 36 hours of study
- Advanced Certification is granted after an additional 24 hours of study
- Ongoing Recognition is awarded for every 18 hours of study within 3 years.
- NEW! University of Dayton VLCFF Online Certificate in Catechesis - Completion of Level 1 and Level 2, plus 5 hours of locally obtained "being" (spirituality) earns Foundational, Advanced and Ongoing DOJ Certification
Starting Out: Initial Formation Day
Certification begins with the diocesan Catchist Initial Formation Day experience or, for those from the Hispanic culture, Soy Catequista
