Safe Environment Parent Letters

Here are sample letters that you can use to inform parents about the Talking About Touching program. (These are included in the diocesan modified TAT kit.) If you are using an approved alternate program, you can adapt the letters accordingly. Please also note that you must inform parents ahead of time if a certified counselor will be present during instruction and may speak to their child, or there could be legal liability. We have included three options for letters. You may choose to have parents simply exempt or “opt-out” their children, or, if you feel comfortable being more specific, to permit or excuse.

If a counselor will be present, for your legal protection and that of the counselor, you must add that information to any materials parents sign, so it is recommended you use the permission letter if a counselor is present.
