Who is speaking at Theology-on-Tap this summer?

Bishop J. Peter Sartain is the fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Joliet since 2006, prior to which he was the Bishop of Little Rock, Arkansas since 2000.  Born in Memphis, Tennessee, he attended St. Meinard College in Indiana, studied at the Pontifical University in Rome, and earned a licentiate of sacred theology from the Pontifical Athenaeum San Anselmo in Rome. Five years of his writings have been collected in a one-volume book, Of You My Heart Has Spoken (2005).

Bishop Joseph Siegel is the Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Joliet, a role he began in January 2010.  Prior to this appointment, Bishop Siegel had been the pastor of Visitation Parish in Elmhurst since 2004. He was born in Joliet and raised on a farm in Lockport Township, and ordained to the priesthood at St. Raymond Cathedral, his home parish, by Bishop Joseph Imesch in 1988.

She is also the movie reviewer for the Catholic New World, the newspaper of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Friar Johnpaul Cafiero, OFM, is a Franciscan Priest of the Sacred Heart Province of Chicago/St.Louis.  Born and raised in the New York Metro area, Friar Johnpaul is the oldest of an ltalian/Polish Catholic family. He is a former police officer who has worked as a counselor and chaplain at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago. His work has included counseling with gang members and their families while working closely with the police gang-crimes Unit of the Chicago Police Dept. He also serves as the chaplain for the Illinois State Police - District 15 & District Chicago and is a pastoral associate at Holy Family Parish in Inverness, Illinois.

Keara Coughlin is the Director of Young Adult Ministry at Old St. Patrick's Church in downtown Chicago.  She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with her Bachelor’s in Theology with a concentration in Catholic Social Teaching, and she returned to Notre Dame for her Master of Divinity degree. Her current work with young adults includes RCIA, liturgy, and her participation in the Education Task Force for the Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform.

Pam Coster is the Executive Director of Charis Ministries, an outreach to young adults through the Chicago Province of the Jesuits. Before Charis, she was the President of Avanza Partners, a consulting firm specializing in adult faith formation and leadership development, and worked in banking.  She was the Director of Faith Formation at Ss. Faith, Hope, & Charity Church in Winnetka and served on the board for Loyola Press and Catholics on Call.  She holds a Masters in Religious Education from Loyola University Chicago and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Eileen Gutierrez and Christine Pershey are on staff at St. Raymond Cathedral Parish in Joliet.  Eileen serves as the parish's Director of Development, responsible for fundraising, stewardship, and alumni relations - and advances and coordinates hospitality at the Cathedral for all diocesan events held there.  Christine is the Pastoral Associate at the Cathedral, coordinating adult faith formation, RCIA, baptism preperation, men's and women's retreats, and lifelong catechesis, as well as the Protecting God's Children program.

Sarah Jarzembowski  is the Director of High School Youth Ministry at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mokena, Illinois, coordinating spiritual and educational programs for Catholic teens at the parish. Motivated by the Spirit, her faith calls her to use her gifts and talents to motivate, educate, and energize those around her.  Sarah is also a life coach and speaker on relationships, films, and the intersection of health and spirituality, as well as navigating transition experiences.

Bill Johnson is an ordained deacon in the Rockford Diocese and serves as a campus minister and theology instructor at Marmion Academy in Aurora, Illinois. Along with being a consultant and guest speaker for a variety of parishes and youth organizations, Bill is also the Youth Ministry Coordinator at St. Daniel the Prophet Parish in Wheaton.  Prior to his work in the Church, Bill spend over twenty years in the music industry as a promotion and marketing director for CBS, A&M, and Arista Records.  Bill and his wife Carol have been married for 38 years and have two married children.

Fr. Thomas J. Loya, STB, MA is the pastor of Annunciation of the Mother of God Byzantine Catholic Church in Chicago and the Eastern Catholic spiritual advisor for Theology-of-the-Body International Alliance (TOBIA).  He completed his studies for priesthood in Pennsylvania and Rome and was ordained in 1982.  In 1993, he earned a Masters in Counseling and Human Services.   He has directed many retreats and has been a guest speaker at conventions, conferences, at World Youth Day 2002, and on Relevant Radio.

Fr. Burke Masters is the Vocations Director for the Diocese of Joliet.  Born and raised in Joliet, Fr. Burke attended Mississippi State University, where he played baseball and went onto the College World Series.  He received his masters degree in sports administration and worked for the Kane County Cougars, a minor league affiliate of the Florida Marlins.  However, he felt a strong call to the priesthood, entered Mundelein Seminary, and was ordained in June 2002.

He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Joliet in 1975.

Both have been involved in youth ministry for the past 20 years, and Duane is currently the Director of Youth Ministry at St. Anne.  Chris is a licensed personal lines agent/customer service representative and has worked for an independent insurance agency for the past 18 years.
