Ashley Nichele, development manager for Community Events from the Make A Wish® Foundation – Illinois, recently visited St. Pius X Parish School. Ms. Nichele was invited to attend a special school assembly thanking all students for their volunteer efforts throughout the past school year.
The school recently donated over $6,200 to Make a Wish Foundation.
The amount was a portion of the $10,000 they earned during their Food Wars Challenge for Charity event, held in January.
Students managed their own food booths and earned money for their chosen charity. (The remaining $3,800 earned at Food Wars went to all other charities represented during the fundraiser including: Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Smile, GiGi’s Playhouse, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, Diabetes Association, ASPCA, Life Without Limbs, and Polycarp Research Institute)
Ms. Nichele informed the students about the foundation and their unique mission of granting wishes to children diagnosed with life threatening medical conditions. She thanked the students for their donation o Make A Wish® and presented them with a special plaque representing a “wish” granted to a child. The plaque will be displayed at the school.
