Joliet Catholic Academy has been sharing the gift of song this holiday season. Students, accompanied by music teacher Joyce Kelstrom, traveled to Senior Star Assisted Living Center for a Christmas performance.
Kelstrom’s Tapestry and Vocal Ensemble groups performed for residents and staff.
One of the highlights of the visit was when two of the residents attending the performance indicated they were St. Francis Academy alumnae.
St. Francis Academy combined with Joliet Catholic High School in 1990 to provide the Joliet community with a coeducational college preparatory high school, Joliet Catholic Academy.
The alumnae, believed to be 1944 graduates, had tears in their eyes as they listened to the singing that would be their connection to the now Joliet Catholic Academy high school.
The vocal groups also performed at the Museum of Science and Industry on December 4, and Kelstrom’s Intermediate Handbells class played at Emeritus and Joshua Arms on November 24, giving the gift of song to many this Christmas season.
