Laudato Si’ Diocesan Committee

The mission of the Diocese of Joliet’s Laudato Si’ Committee is to actively harness resources to inform, encourage, and assist parishes and surrounding community to organize activity celebrating the gift of God’s Creation by demonstrating respect and stewardship as articulated by Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’.

IDENTIFY key committees and individuals within each parish who will integrate creation care at their parish. Additionally we will recruit leaders for the Diocese of Joliet’s Laudato Si’ Committee, with at least one representative from each deanery.

NETWORK create an e-communication platform and calendar to post information and upcoming events throughout the diocese.

INFORM and regularly update parish leadership with educational resources such as the Laudato Si’ Animators program through the Global Catholic Climate Movement.

INVITE parish school and university educators to participate in network activities. Integrate youth and young adults into our process.

CELEBRATE design and execute annual celebratory events to commemorate Earth Day, Laudato Si’ Day, and the Season of Creation.

REACH OUT encourage and support connections with the larger local community organizations to inform them of our support for common goals: environmental justice, climate change, advocacy, etc.

If you would like more information or are interested in joining this committee contact Kayla S. Jacobs, Director of Programs for Laudato Si’ Ministries, at: kjacobs@dioceseofjoliet.org.
