Season of Creation Schedule 2021

Diocese of Joliet

On September 1st, 2021, the International Day of Prayer for Creation - October 4th, 2021, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, we will celebrate the Season of Creation. The Season of Creation is an annual Christian observance of caring for creation. It is a time to celebrate and renew our commitment to the Creator and the stewardship of His creation. This year’s Season of Creation has a particular significance because the Vatican has launched a 7 Year Laudato Si’ Action Platform, encouraging Catholic institutions to make a plan and take action to address the ecological crisis. Check out what we have going on for the Season of Creation 2021:

September 9: Season of Creation prayer service with Fr. John Horan at Lewis University, 6:00 P.M. Please register at kjacobs@dioceseofjoliet.org. A recording of this event will be posted on the diocesan webiste.

September 12-14: We are happy to once again be co-sponsors of this year's Green Team Summit with Faith in Place. Register for all or some of these vitural sessions. More information and registration here.

September 17: Feast of St. Hildegard of Bingen! A reflection will be posted on our blog.

October 4: Feast of St. Francis and the 2 year anniversary of the Laudato Si' Ministries! We are hosting an Animal Blessing and Prayer Service for Endangered Animals at the Mayslake Peabody Estate at 5:30 P.M. Please register at kjacobs@dioceseofjoliet.org.

October 4: We will launch the Diocese of Joliet's 7 Year Laudato Si' Action Platform.
